Introduction to Outdoor Rod-Type Porcelain Post Insulators

Release date:

2026-05-12

Outdoor rod-type porcelain post insulators are primarily used in outdoor substations and switchgear of power plants and distribution stations, operating at power-frequency AC voltages ranging from 40.5 kV to 1100 kV, where they serve to insulate and support live parts. The insulators are suitable for ambient temperatures between −40°C and +40°C, with some models also approved for use at altitudes up to 4,000 m. They are available in two main types: standard and pollution‑resistant; the latter is designed for moderate, heavy, and very heavy pollution conditions.
